クラスのコリアンの子にデジカメで撮った写真を見せられて,「これ誰だかわかる? 有名な日本人女優らしいんだけど.」って聞かれたんだけど, 写真からは誰だかわかりませんでした. 彼女曰く「若くてピュアなイメージで, バンクーバーに留学しにきた女優」らしいです. 誰だかわかる人います?

久々にいい映画に出会った. 社会派アクション映画とかいわれてるけど, アクションに頼ることもなく小細工なしで引き込んでくれた. ラブシーンがなかったのも, conflict diamonds や child soldiers などの社会問題の言及を陳腐にさせずにすんだのでよかった.
Leonardo DiCapurio はあまり好きじゃなかったから, 出演映画(タイタニック, キャッチ・ミー・イフ・ユー・キャン, アビエイターなどなど)はことごとく避けてきたけどこの映画ですっかり魅せられた. 特に DiCapurio の(役作りのためにマスターしたらしい)現地英語が気に入りました. 舌を巻かない "R" と, "yeah, yeah." に加えて, しつこいくらい繰り返される "huh?" がグッド(笑)
ただ, 主人公 Archer (DiCaprio) の心情の動きが今ひとつ把握できなかったので帰国したら日本語字幕でじっくり観たいと思います.

前々からお金に余裕ができたら買おうと思っていた Funeral For A Friend のアルバム "Casually Dressed & Deep In Conversation" をようやくゲット. MP3 ファイルでは数年前から持ってたけど実物は持ってなかったのでめちゃくちゃうれしい. 友達が(遅い)誕生日プレゼントに買ってくれました. サンクスッ!!

i had dinner at an all you can eat restaurant, Shabusen, with my friend. i pigged out on sashimi, sushi, bbq (beef and squid), kimchi, tempura, gyoza, fried chicken, jabchae, salad, rolls, steamed rice, fried rice, etc. with beer and got totally full.

友達に誘われて UBC (The University of British Columbia) の近くのヌードビーチ Wreck Beach に行ってきました. ここで重要なのは友達に誘われてというところです. 乗り気じゃなかったんですが, 行かざるを得ない状況になったので...
ヌードビーチ体験済みの友達によると「最初の10分でなれるよ.」とのことでしたが, 素っ裸の人がたくさんいる異様な雰囲気に, 終始なじめませんでした. 最後の方はいくらかマシでしたが... 老若男女はだかハダカ裸... アイスキャンディやピザ, 飲み物, キャップなどを売ってる人はなぜかみんな裸. 裸の家族連れまでいました. でもみんながみんな裸になる必要はないので, 自分らは水着でボール遊びと海を楽しんできました.
帰り際にダウンタウンの韓国料理レストランでまたまたちゃんぽん(写真)を食べてきました. お腹が空いてたのでコッペギ(1.5倍)で. ペブロペブロ.

昨日に引き続き Davie Street 沿いで夕御飯を食べてきました. 今日はギリシャ料理(ともちろんビール)を楽しんできました. Davie Street 沿いの有名なギリシャ料理レストラン Ste***** よりおいしかったです. 夕食後はまたまた English Bay まで歩き, 浜辺でトランプ. その後韓国料理レストランでちゃんぽんを食してきました. ちゃんぽんといっても日本の長崎ちゃんぽんとは違って, noodles and vegetables in spicy soup って感じです. 辛いのは得意じゃないので今まで敬遠してきましたが, 食べてみるとうまい. はまりそうな予感.

i ate out at a japanese restaurant called Samurai with my friend and her junior. we ate sushi, sashimi, the fillets of which were really thick, and drank beer. after having dinner, we walked down Davie St. to Milestones near English Bay. we drank beer there again, went for a walk around English Bay, and then went home.

my friend's boyfriend has come to vancouver, and i was pushed by her to treat them to dinner yesterday lol. so, i made yakionigiri, yakisoba, karaage, and nikujaga for them. that was my first time to cook the dishes except for yakisoba, and it took over 3 hours for me to prepare.
after we ate dinner, we went to a cafe called Kino Cafe and watched flamenco dance, which was indescribably amazing, drinking spanish alcohol Sangria. it looked like wine but tastes way better than wine to me.
having enjoyed drinking sangria and watching the dance, we moved to a korean restaurant downtown. we drank lemon soju and ate 2 kinds of soup and vermicelli noodles.
we kept eating and drinking for over 7 hours lol. it was a really fun.

今日は Jericho Beach で泳いできました. 水着を持っていないので, トランクスとハーフパンツで(笑) バンクーバーのビーチはそんなに人が多くなく快適. ただ, ロッカーがないので荷物に注意しながら泳がなきゃいけないってのが欠点です...

ただ今, 午前3時過ぎ. ふとテレビをつけたら Live Earth っていう番組で Linkin Park のライブがっ! しかも東京幕張でっ!! しかも Mike 日本語で話してるしっ!!! まぁカンペを読んで, だけど(笑)
久々に LP のライブを観て思ったこと. やっぱかっけーわ, LP.

P.S.
ってかラストの曲が Faint で, しかも曲の締め方がひと味違ってかっけーーーっ!! この締め方知ってたけど, やっぱ改めて観ると感動.

Kitsulano West 4th Avenue でのショッピングは土曜日に延期して, 今日は学校が終わったあと Yaletown に行ってきました. Yaletown をぶらぶらしてから Yaletown Brewing というレストランでビールとビリヤードを楽しんで, そのあと近くの公園で芝生の上にしばらく寝転がってきました. バンクーバーでは, ビーチでもない公園でビキニを着て日光浴してる人が結構たくさんいて, なんだか奇妙な光景でした.

今日は Kitsulano Beach に行ってきました. バンクーバーいち美女が集まるという有名なビーチらしいけど, 日本の海水浴場みたいにだだっ広いのに人が溢れかえってる感じではなく, 案外こぢんまりしてました. こっちは日差しが強くて海水が温かいため, 日本では考えられないような気温(23度とか)でも泳げます. ちなみに日差しは強いけど湿度が低いため, 木陰に入ると肌寒いという奇妙な体験もできます.
海水にちょこっと浸かったあとは, Kitsulano のメインストリート West 4th Avenue をぶらぶらして Noodle Box というレストランで夕御飯を食べてきました. West 4th Avenue 沿いには, 洒落た雑貨屋や服屋がたくさんあってなかなかよかったです. 今日は時間がなくてゆっくり回れなかったのでまた明日ゆっくりウィンドウショッピング(←お金がないので…)を楽しんできます.

yesterday, July 1, was a holiday called Canada Day, and i hung out with my friends.
first, i visited my friends house and had a great korean lunch. after that, we went to Lighthouse Park, which is very famous for the lighthouse there. walking though the park, we reached the lighthouse and the beach. we played cards on the beach lol. oh, by the way, i won lol.
we had dinner at a japanese restaurant. we ate skewered grilled chicken (yakitori), toasted rice ball (yakionigiri), pot-boiled noodles (nabeyaki udon), spicy tuna rolls, etc. and then we moved to Milestones to drink. after drinking, we went to see a firework show near Canada Place. that's all about it.

we left San Francisco for Santa Monica through Monterey. on the way to LAX, we stopped by a golf course and a Denmark-like village called Solvang, where we saw a windmill. after that, we went to LAX and dropped a curtain on a wonderful tour.

2007.06.22 (Fri)
first of all, we visited Yosemite National Park. we got off the bus and walked to Yosemite Fall. on the way back to the bus, P and i saw a deer or something (i don't know what it was). we took some photos of it.
going through the park, we headed off to San Francisco. we sightsaw in San Francisco: Downtown, Chinatown, Pier 39, Golden Gate Bridge, etc. we also went on a cruise from Pier 30, which took one and a half hours. during the cruise, we took many photos: Downtown, seagulls, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, which was a prison and now is a famous tourist spot, etc. the sea was dirty, but the sky was clear and beautiful.
